San Diego, CA. January 31, 2019. Over the weekend at O.Co Coliseum in Oakland California, Ronnie Stewart made his third consecutive main event.

Leading up to the fourth round in the 2019 Monster Energy Supercross season, Ronnie was battling a cold that quickly interrupted his training schedule. With one day of riding going into the weekend, he refocused his mind to resting and healing his body, rather than rushing and overdoing his training. His biggest take away this past weekend is the importance of balancing mental conditioning with physical preparation.

“I’m not going to lie I was feeling really under the weather going into the weekend, it took a lot of work mentally to remind myself what I’m capable of. It’s crazy to think what we can achieve when we do that. You just have to break things down into smaller more achievable goals and it becomes less straining. That was my approach all day on Saturday. Focus on one practice, one lap. One race, one lap at a time. Even during the main, it’s hard work, but its 21 minutes, I can rest after (haha).” – Ronnie Stewart

Ronnie went on to qualify 26thoverall from practice with a 57.325 on his Husqvarna FC450. He finished 11thin his heat race setting himself up for a good gate pick in the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ). During the LCQ Ronnie was third off the gate and around the first turn, behind top guys Justin Bogle and Dean Wilson. During the race he moved to fourth then fifth and was soon having to work back into a transfer position. He was able to successfully secure the last transfer spot following a pass made in the whoops during the second lap.

In the main event Ronnie worked his way up to 19th, but was passed during the last lap by Aaron Plessinger, earning 20th and three more points.

Ronnie competes this coming Saturday at Petco Park in San Diego, CA. Continue to follow along with Ronnie on social media @rstewartmx.
